GEMINI is our club's Global Emergency Medicine Initiative, a collaborative Rotary International service project. We work with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Rotary International District 7910, other Rotary clubs across the globe, medical facilities, and governments of participating countries to bring training in emergency medicine, expertise, and equipment to developing countries worldwide.
UMass students teach CPR in Nicaragua
UMass Medical School students teaching CPR at the medical school in Managua, Nicaragua, June 2016. The equipment was requested by Jorge Yarzebski Jr. and donated by the American Heart Association to GEMINI.
- Over 10,000 people have been trained in CPR since 1998.
- Working in partnership with other Rotary Clubs, we have established training centers in Nicaragua and Guatemala to teach CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to laypeople and health care providers.
